About VARYmi

With VARYmi, you can create and hear musical variations of MIDI song files. You control the amount of variation for any given song. VARYmi can also generate variations of any variation you create—automatically. It doubles as a MIDI player, allowing you to play and hear your own MIDI files and variations.

To get you started, 3 MIDI songs ranging from Bach to Joplin are included, though any MIDI song can be used. Here are the DIRECTIONS for creating sample variations:

• [CHOOSE song] select a MIDI song file as the original song (3 are included).
• [PLAY song] play the original MIDI song.
• [VARIATION AMOUNT] move slider to indicate amount of variation desired for sample variation. Zero indicates minimal variation.
• [CREATE] create a sample variation. The first variation you create for each MIDI file will be reproducible. To create further variations with a similar amount of variance, use the AUTOMATIC VARIATION button.
• [PLAY VARIATION] play the sample variation.
• [AUTOMATIC VARIATION] Hit this button and VARYmi automatically generates a new variation with roughly the same amount of variation as your sample variation. You can also make more than one sample variation per song, each with a different amount of variation. You can create more than one setting for any given song, e.g., you might want to make a variation close to the original and another more far out!
• [DOWNLOAD VARIATION] You can save all of your variations to the music catalog on your computer, manipulate them further using your preferred sequencer, and listen wherever, whenever … Have fun!
